What is hypnobirthing? And how does it work?
Hypnobirthing is a collection of techniques to help mothers have a birth experience that is more connected, more present and more positive.
A Dual Approach:
+ Information: You and your partner/ birth companion get to know how your pregnant body works and understand the physiology of giving birth. You also learn about what your options and rights are, so you can make informed decisions that are good for you and your baby.
+ Practice: through relaxation techniques and listening to positive statements from pregnancy/labour scripts, you learn how to calm your mind and body and allow your subconscious to forge positive associations towards the birth.
The benefits of hypnobirthing
– During pregnancy and labour, the mother is more present and connected.
– She understands the physiological changes that are happening to her and she relies on the fact that her body is designed to birth her baby.
– She is well-informed and empowered to make the right decisions for her and her baby.
– After labour, this may have an impact on the way that they will parent.– As a parent, his/her role (or the role of any birth partner) starts much earlier than the labour since the bonding process is put in place with every piece of relaxation (belly being touched, baby being talked to, etc.).
– She/he is a key part of helping the mother to feel reassured and to enter a state of relaxation and a sense of safeness.
– During labour, he/she is not just a spectator. The birth partner has the key role of guardian to ensure that the mother is disturbed as little as possible.
– She has more space for relaxation, connection with her parents and calmness during pregnancy and labour.
– The baby experiences less stress and her entrance to the world is calmer and smoother.
– She is more likely to be born more alert, free of drugs and in her own time
